Book Review – Bodychecked

Bodychecked: After The Buzzer by Melody Heck Gatto is a compelling hockey romance story with a twist. The twist, in my opinion, is that the story focuses on a hockey player who is nearing the end of his playing career. Matt is a bad boy hockey enforcer whose body is wearing down from all the fights and body checks he’s had to endure. For most athletes, their entire being is often defined by the sport they play. When they are forced to retire, who are they? What are they supposed to do? Into this scene comes Maddie, and what I really liked about this is that the romance between the two is a slow burn. They start as friends first and the romance blossoms later. Other aspects of the characters are revealed, but I don’t want to give away any spoilers. I really enjoyed Bodychecked: After The Buzzer and if you like athlete romance stories, I’m sure you will too.
